I believe in camping and the camping way of life. I pledge to train my mind to learn the importance of nature. I believe in fair play, honesty and sportsmanship. I believe in Camp Madison, which stands for all these things.

On July 6, 2001, children from the 13th street Boys & Girls club visited CAMP MADISON for day camp. They got a real feel of what camp is truly like. They ranged in ages from 5 years old to 12 years old. When they first arrived at camp it was about 12:50pm and they were very excited. After lunch, they split into two age groups and got to see different things.

The 5-9 year olds went to the soccer field with Rebecca, the nature teacher, and caught some insects. They played a game of over and under and over and even played soccer. Kristain, age 8 says, I like to run and kick the ball. You could tell she was having fun. When asked if she would like to return to CAMP MADISON, she replied "Yes!" Not only did they play soccer, but they also flew kites. They got with a buddy and flew their kite. I got a chance to talk to Priscilla and Jazmine, who were flying their kite. They said they were having fun. I asked Priscilla what she liked best about flying the kite and she said, "I like the wind blowing in my hair"

While the 5-9 year olds played in the soccer field, the 10-12 year olds went through
The adventure course. Everyone seemed to have a lot of fun andenjoyed it a lot. I talked to one of the staff members from the 13th Street clubhouse that climbed "The Wall." His name was Todd. I asked himwhat he thought of "The wall" and he replied," I didn't think I'd be able to do it" I asked him how it felt to climb the wall in three words. His response was, "scary, fun and exciting."

The whole day was a full success for the 13th Street day camp. Everyone had fun and learned new things.
