Coming to America
By Keenan

Hi my name is Keenan. When I first came to America, I went to a colony named Utopia. I was chosen to be a delegate to help write the constitution. I had to build my house out of stones. Then I had to go hunting for something to eat. First I hunted a wild turkey. It was hard to find one, but I did. I caught it and ate it. Next, I went looking for some bears, so I brought my black powder rifle with me. I saw a bear cave, so I went inside. Two bears were inside, so I shot the bears with my gun. Then I went fishing. I caught nine fish in one day. That is what my colony had for dinner that night.

Going to America
By Quay

It was horrible! The year was 1620 and everyone was trying to get their families together. We all wanted tp get out of Europe as quickly as possible. There was a ship called the Mayflower that would take us to America. I was afraid at first, but I just had to get out of Europe. There were 70 mean and women on the boat and 32 children.

Living conditions on the ship weren't so good, but we made the best of what we had. Many people got sick and some even died! When we finally got to America, it was November. When I walked off of the ship, the first thing I saw was a forest of trees and wild animals. I have never seen anything like it. It was a beautiful sight. I knew instantly that we would have a lot of work to do.

I also saw strange looking people. They scared me at first, but they seemed more afraid of us. On December 25, 1620, we decided to build a common house for everyone to live in. That was the beginning of our new life in America.

Utopia
By Patric Williams

When I first come to America. I had to eat bears, deer, strawberries and fish. I had to look for them. I had to make a house out of wood. When I was there for a while, I was chosen to be a delegate and I had to help write the Constitution. I had to make sure that I followed the rules, like not cutting down too many trees. We had to make a Constitution because of the king and queen. We needed freedom from them because we had to give them money for taxes and we did not want to.

Native American Story
By Brittany

When we came to America, all the people were Native Americans. One little boy came up to me and gave me a piece of corn. I took it and remembered myself as a little child. I remembered why I left Europe and the hard times. There were all kinds of wars. That's why I left to come to the New World.

The Indians
By Iris Marie Martinez

We've reached our destination on November in 1620. When we walked off of the ship, we heard a big bang. We ran and hid in the bushes. We saw other people running, too. They were the Native Americans. Thankfully they didn't see us. I told my men, "Let's go try to contact them so we can become friends." We found them. They got scared and took out their weapons. We talked to them calmly and became friends. While they hunted, we built shelter. We found a lot of land and built a lot of houses.

Coming to America
By Akinola Ibiayo

My name is Akinola. I just came to America from Europe. The pilgrims and I formed a colony named Utopia. We met Native Americans who taught us a lot of things. They taught me how to track down deer, bears and wild turkeys. We were also taught how to fish. We ate strawberries, maple syrup, hickory nuts and mushrooms that we found in the woods. I had fun.

When I First Came to America
By Jason Wilson

Coming to America was a great idea.
I wish I could come here every year.
I love the stars, the trees and leaves.
I could smell the air and bend my knees.
Oh, America is a place to be.
You would like it if you were me!

My First Day of Justice
By Monija Hicks

When we went to America, we went to a colony called Justice. When we first came to Justice, we saw strawberries. We ate them because they were big and ripe. Next, we met Jose who lived in a tipi. He taught us how to make a spark so we could make a big fat fire. We needed a fire to make food. We caught a deer. We cooked it and ate it. We used the skin to make a big blanket. We slept in tipis overnight until we built our home. Now we live in a wooden house.

Justice
By Sasha Russell

When I got to the colony of Justice, I ate wild turkeys, grasshoppers and clover. When it became night, I ate deer meat. While I was asleep, I slept with a coat and blankets that I made from the deer's skin. In the morning I ate strawberries and sumac berries
